I’ve been feeling sluggish for the past few weeks. I keep thinking if I just lose a few pounds or workout or something I’ll get my energy and pep back…but then I can’t even seem to muster the muster to do that much. Instead, I’m eating worse, vegging more, and basically I’m a potato. Then I thought, what if I just change ONE thing. Like, instead of trying to overhaul my entire life, what if I just overhaul my breakfast. That’s when I decided to make this Layered Strawberry And Green Smoothie. I love smoothies. When I was a little girl my mom would make me milk shakes when I had a bad day, or if I was sick. Smoothies remind me of that. It’s like my mom is taking care of me again. Only, instead of high calorie chocolate syrup and ice cream, I’m using fruit and veggies and sometimes a little yogurt. This one tasted amazing. I still don’t quite have my pep back, but it’s a step. I hope you like it, too! Let me know what you think in the comments below. Also, if there are any other smoothie recipes you’d like me to try, tell me about them!

How To Make A Layered Strawberry And Green Smoothie:

I made the spinach layer first because that’s the layer I was most concerned about. I’ve tried green smoothies before, and even spinach mixed into other smoothies, but since I’ve been feeling blah, I was afraid if I put the spinach on top, I’d drink down the strawberry and ignore the rest. So, onto the bottom it went. Plus, it would just look a little gross to watch the spinach drip down into the strawberry, right? So basically, this layer is really simple. Just put everything in the blender and pulse until it’s smooth, then pour it into a tumbler.

Easy peasy.

The strawberry layer is just as easy. I rinsed out my blender, popped all the ingredients in, then pulsed and poured. I used the vanilla yogurt with this one because I thought the little extra sweetness would help ease me into things, but after tasting it, the strawberry would have been fine with a plain yogurt. I’m also thinking I might try ice next time instead of yogurt. I think it would give it a really fun texture and cut back the calories and fat even more.

So there you have it! Super simple, tasted delicious, and I sipped it slow enough that I ended up full by the end. Exactly what I wanted. I hope you like it and I hope it does the same for you! Like I said, let me know what you think in the comments below!
