We are headed into my absolute favorite time of year — Pumpkin Season!! I’m giddy!!!

There are so many things you can do with the pumpkin. They are gorgeous as is to decorate your house for fall, you can carve Jack O’ Lanterns, make trick-or-treat candy holders, you can even roast the seeds for a yummy treat!

But, there is something else you can do with a pumpkin, and it’s genius. With as pumpkin obsessed as I am, I can’t believe I never thought of this before.

Get this — you can use a pumpkin as a cooler for your fall get togethers!!

Gah!! I know, right? Genius!!

They are super easy to make, and won’t take but a few minutes.

Here’s How To Turn Your Pumpkin Into A Cooler

First, you want to get a big-ish pumpkin. I’d go with the largest one you can find in the pumpkin patch (or grocery store).

Now, you want to get a knife and carefully remove the top. You can just cut straight across, or you can make it jagged like a Jack O’ Lantern.

Next, you want to scoop out all the guts (Save Those Seeds to make homemade roasted pumpkin seeds!!). You can make easy work of this by using an electric mixer.

If it were me, at this point I would put a bit of petroleum jelly around the edges to protect them from the air.

This part is optional — it might make the pumpkin cooler last just a bit longer — get a big bowl, and see if it will fit down inside your pumpkin.

If it won’t fit, carefully use a spoon to carve some more of the flesh out of the pumpkin, making the hole at the top big enough to insert your bowl.

Now, you fill the bowl — or the pumpkin — with ice, and put your drinks in.

Drop in a little more ice, to fill the top of the pumpkin.

Voila!! You just made your own Pumpkin Cooler!!

You know what I just thought of? Instead of adult beverages, you can fill your pumpkin with juice boxes, and hand them out to trick-or-treaters!! *Squee!!

Happy fall, y’all!
