Robert Downey Jr. Talks About The Possibility Of An ‘Iron Man 4’
Did anyone else ugly cry when Iron Man died in Avengers: Endgame? I know I can’t be the only one.
Iron Man pretty much carried the Avengers movies from the moment he burst onto the scene in 2008’s Iron Man.
Now, don’t jump all over me when I say he “carried” the Avengers. I love Thor as much as the next person, but Iron Man was pretty much their “leader” if you will.
I would be beyond stoked if they brought Iron Man back for a 4th movie, but is it going to happen? I mean, he is pretty much dead. The end. No coming back from that one.
Will There Be An Iron Man 4?
Robert Downey Jr. was asked that very question, and he answered it in only the way Robert Downey Jr. can do.
He completely deflected the question, and actually answered with a joke.
So, Robert Downey Jr. was told by an interviewer that Tom Cruise was interested in a Tropic Thunder sequel. At the same time, the interviews snuck in a question about whether we might get an Iron Man 4.
Does he want to do that?! — Tom, don’t take it!
Robert Downey Jr.
Basically a non-answer, right?!?
Marvel Studios is pretty organized and meticulous about setting out the roadmap for upcoming movies, and Iron Man 4 is nowhere on any upcoming lists, so I would say it’s pretty unlikely he will be returning.
Jon Favreau, who, as you know, also stars in the Iron Man movies, pretty much confirmed the news back in 2019.
We haven’t talked about four — I’ve talked to [Marvel Studios president] Kevin [Feige] about it to see what they’re up to, but we definitely love working together and we love these characters. We talk about what it would be, and we always joke about the freak storyline which is the Happy Hogan storyline when he turns into a Hulk-like character. We joke about that. No plans, as of yet.

Kinda sad news, I guess, but you can catch the 3 Iron Man films right now on Disney+.
If we look into the future of the Marvel Universe just a ways, we know that Avengers: Secret Wars is currently set to drop May 7, 2027. We’ll let you know of any updates.
But, for now, no more Iron Man. *Tear*
