Dozens of TGI Fridays are no longer open on Fridays, or any day of the week.

That’s right, the news comes as a shock to many fans (including myself), who have sat down for dinner at their local TGI Fridays’ restaurant.

I mean who hasn’t grabbed a table at the red and white stripped chain, especially when they’re known for their famous loaded potatoes.

But as many of us would vote to keep all TGI Fridays open, the chain has abruptly shut down many of their locations due to underperformance.

In a recent press release from the food giant, TGI Fridays mentioned that 36 of their restaurants have closed.

Although there’s no need to panic just yet because the chain has also explained that while some of locations have shut down for good, this is only an effort to continue the process of their “ongoing growth strategy”.

The new growth strategy, also includes a shakeup in executive ranks and even some of the chains have been sold back to its former CEO.

“Our top priority has always been delivering a superior experience for each and every TGI Fridays guest, and we’ve identified opportunities to optimize and streamline our operations to ensure we are best positioned to meet – and exceed – on that brand promise,” said Ray Risley, US president and chief operating officer said in the recent press release.
