Here’s Why Thora Birch Won’t Be Reprising Her Role As Dani Dennison In ‘Hocus Pocus 2’

She was, without a doubt, one of the most beloved characters in the OG Hocus Pocus, but Thora Birch won’t be returning as Dani Dennison in Hocus Pocus 2.

We have all been anxiously awaiting the moment that Hocus Pocus 2 drops onto Disney+, and it’s finally here!!

Those Sanderson sisters are BACK with more mischief and magic, and we are totally here for it.

You might notice, however, that Dani Dennison — my FAVORITE character from the OG Hocus Pocus — isn’t present for the return to Salem.

Thora Birch is setting the record straight, and letting us all know why she won’t be back for the sequel.

Turns out, she was otherwise committed when filming commenced for Hocus Pocus 2.

I guess we’ll excuse her absence, but I’m still sad.

I was working on something else when they were filming — otherwise I was definitely going to be there on set with the girls.

She will be watching with the rest of us to see how those havoc wreaking Sanderson sisters are going to disrupt the balance in Salem.

I can’t wait to see what they do with it. I know they’re taking a completely different, fresh approach, so I’m excited.
