I mean, this really seems like a no brainer to me…

Borax. It’s a white powdery substance used for cleaning all the things and boosting laundry.

It is also used to repel and kill mice.

But, people are now drinking borax, and what the heck?!?

Why Are People Drinking Borax?

It doesn’t make much sense, but some people are promoting borax as a health booster.

According to GMA, there are some that say Borax is a “nutritional supplement that can help reduce inflammation and cleanse the body.”

Um — just because it cleans stoves and sinks doesn’t mean it should be used to clean the inside of your body.

Who in the world first thought that this should be a good idea?

And, maybe more importantly, why in the world are people following this advice?!?

Just say “NO!”

What Do Doctors Say About Drinking Borax?

Borax is a toxic poison, so as you can imagine, doctors have a few things to say about drinking it as a nutrition supplement.

As a doctor, I am telling you, very explicitly, do not ever drink [borax] in any amount.

Guess what. The body cleans itself, and doesn’t need any help from poisonous substances.

As for inflammation reduction, try exercise, eating right, and drinking water.

Our skin, our lungs, our kidneys, our GI tract, our liver are constantly cleansing the body — That’s how brilliant the body is in terms of a physical machine, so you don’t really need any other ingredients to do that.

What Happens When You Drink Borax?

Again, it’s a poison, so the side effects can’t be all that good.

High levels of borax can lead to kidney failure — and maybe more importantly — death.

Just coming in contact with borax can cause nasty symptoms including coughing, trouble breathing, eye irritation, and nosebleeds.

I mean, it kills mice. That can’t mean it’s much better for you!

Perhaps the take away from this trend is that you should use your brain and cross-check facts before you jump on the bandwagon.

Please. Don’t drink borax. It’s not cleaning your insides. It’s killing you.
