Say Goodbye to COVID Vaccination Cards. Here’s Everything We Know.
Just a few years ago, our COVID-19 vaccination cards were a lifeline.
We meticulously kept up with our vaccination cards, because it meant the difference between being restricted in where we could go and what we could do.
Well, these cards are going the way of the dinosaurs, extinct and a thing of the past.
It hardly seems believable, because it was drilled into our heads just how important these little white cards are.
But, the COVID-19 vaccines are not being distributed by the federal government anymore, so the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has stopped printing the vaccination cards.
Crazy, right?!?
These cards were a BIG deal. It was our only proof that we had received the COVID-19 vaccine.
You can still use your cards as proof that you’ve had the vaccine, but they won’t be handed out from here on out when you get the COVID-19 vaccination.
If you need your vaccine record, you will have to request them just like you would with any other vaccine.
Most places — like CVS — can give you a printout of your vaccination record, and this will now be your proof of inoculation.
This makes more sense to me, anyway. I always thought it was weird that we had to have those little white vaccination cards, especially with the way everything is automated these days.
Don’t toss your vaccination cards just yet.
Keep them somewhere safe, just like you would any other important medical information.
But, don’t expect to receive a new card when you go to get your booster this year.
