How To Make The Best Cheater’s Spaghetti Sauce Around
This is the only way I will make Spaghetti Sauce. I’m too lazy to make a sauce from scratch. This is as “real” as I get. It tastes awesome, and it’s super quick. That’s good enough for my family and me.
The Best Cheater’s Spaghetti Sauce
Here are the ingredients
- 67 ounce Jug of Prego
- 1 – 2 pounds of Meat (depending on how meaty you like it)
- 3 cloves of Garlic
- 2 Tablespoons of Honey
- 1 Tablespoon of Italian Herbs (dry basil and oregano work)
- 2 teaspoons of Hot Sauce (I use Sriracha or Franks Big Red)
- 1 cup Shredded Cheese — optional
The ingredients make this look complicated, but it’s the easiest thing ever.
Honestly, I don’t measure a thing. I just eyeball it, but that’s how I roll. You do you. If you want to measure it precisely, I won’t judge.
Here is how you make it
Brown the meat on medium heat until cooked through.
Mince the garlic, and throw it in with the meat. I use this doo-hicky.
Drain the meat, and add it back into the pot.
Pour in the Prego. It has to be Prego. That is the only good sauce — I’m just joking. Substitute your FAVORITE jarred spaghetti sauce.
Squeeze in the honey, and squirt in the hot sauce.
Take the herbs, and rub them between your CLEAN and DRY hands, as you drop the herbs into the sauce. This makes the flavor pop.
Stir the mixture over medium / low heat until it is hot
The sauce WILL pop, and get everywhere while it cooks if you don’t watch it. Either put a lid on it to cook, or stir it pretty frequently.
I forgot to tell you to add the cheese. If you want it kind of creamy and cheesy, stir in the cheese right after you drop in the herbs. I use the bagged stuff, but if you want to grate it fresh, you go for it!
This sauce is good on anything from spaghetti to chicken breast! I usually freeze part of it, and use it as I need it.
