‘Last Man Standing’ Will Be Saying Goodbye After 9 Seasons And I’m Not Ready
This news from the world of Prime Time Television just ruined my whole day.
One of my favorite sitcoms ever, and a staple in my Hulu catalog of shows, Last Man Standing is calling it quits after 9 seasons on the air — for real this time.
We all thought it was over, way back in 2017 (That feels like FOREVER ago at this point!), when ABC decided to up and cancel the show out from under us.
Luckily, FOX decided to pick up the series, and it has found its home quite comfortably at the television giant for the last 3 years.
BUT, now has been announced that after this next season — the 9th in the series — the cast and crew are ready to give us a “gentle and fun goodbye.”
I am NOT ready to say goodbye. I have been through quite a lot in the last near decade that Last Man Standing has been on the air, and this show has been right there with me the whole time, sort of like a funny security blanket, and I don’t want to let it go!
We have grown up with Boyd Baxter, seen Eve through high school and now military school, grown with Mandy as she blossomed into a creative clothing artist, cheered on Kristin and Ryan as their relationship has grown — and of course always had Mike and Vanessa right there along the way.
Tim Allen had said he was ready to throw in the towel after the end of last season, but he agreed to stay on to give the show and fans the proper goodbye that the show deserves.
Thank you, Tim!
The 9th, and last season of Last Man Standing is set to premier in January. As you will remember at the end of season 8, both Kristin and Mandy are pregnant, and Kristin has just gone into labor — of course, the whole family is there at the hospital with her.
I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us this season — and I’ll have my box of tissues all ready for the series finale.
See this look from season 7, when they brought the show to Fox.
Also, be on the lookout for Tim Allen’s new project with Richard Karn. I can’t wait to watch this new game-show style television show, that will reunite two of the funniest people on television.
