Looks Like Netflix May Introduce Ads Sooner Than Expected This Year. Here’s What We Know.
I kind of get a little sick to my stomach each month as I see more prices rising, seeing how high my current Netflix account has me thinking about canceling.
However, it looks like Netflix will be introducing a cheaper option and it may come sooner than expected.
According to a report, Netflix is planning to introduce a lower-priced subscription, but there’s a catch.
The lower tier plan will have advertisements, so no more commercial-free streaming if you want a lower price.
Commercials don’t really bother me because I need a lot of potty breaks anyhow, so this may be the option I choose instead of canceling.

Netflix executives told shareholders in a press release
A lot of people have been canceling and I think Netflix is trying to regain accounts.
Streaming is winning over linear, as we predicted, and Netflix titles are very popular globally. However, our relatively high household penetration – when including the large number of households sharing accounts – combined with competition, is creating revenue growth headwinds. The big COVID boost to streaming obscured the picture until recently. While we work to reaccelerate our revenue growth – through improvements to our service and more effective monetization of multi-household sharing – we’ll be holding our operating margin at around 20%.

Plus there was the whole thing with shareholders suing Netflix.
The word seems to be that the last three months of 2022 could bring us the new subscription option, so it’s still a bit away.
What do you think, will you try the ad-supported subscription of Netflix?
