There is going to be a Matilda musical based on the book by Roald Dahl, and my younger self just broke out into a happy dance!

If you were a kid in the late 90s or early 2000s, there is no doubt that one of your FAVORITE movies was Matilda.

We watched the OG Matilda so many times that we wore out the VHS video tape.

Yep, it wasn’t even out on DVD yet. Shocking, I know!!

I’m right and you’re wrong, I’m big and you’re small, and there’s nothing you can do about it.

Now there is going to be a NEW Matilda for a new generation — and it’s going to be a musical.

It looks absolutely fabulous!!

All our favorite characters from the story are going to be there — Matilda, her horrid parents, her loving teacher, Miss Trunchbull.

Matilda was originally adapted for the big screen back in 1997, but it has been playing on the stage in the West End — London’s version of Broadway — since 2011.

According to RadioTimes, it is this stage version of Roald Dahl’s Matilda that has been turned into a musical cinematic masterpiece.

And y’all, I can’t wait!!

If you don’t know the story of Matilda, it is about a child who harnesses the power of telekinesis in order to help her deal with her cruel family and overbearing school teacher.

The one bright spot in Matilda’s life comes in the form of a teacher who sees how special and unique this little girl really is. She sort of takes Matilda under her wing, and helps her personality blossom.

You can see Matilda the Musical in select theaters starting in December. And then, on Christmas Day, this much anticipated musical is set to hit the Netflix streaming platform.
