A New Hunger Games Novel Was Just Announced! I CAN NOT WAIT!
There are times when you read a book that changes your life. And that’s how I felt about the Hunger Games series.
So, when I read that Suzanne Collins had a new Hunger Games novel coming out NEXT YEAR… well, happy dance.
Here’s what we know about the new Hunger Games book so far.
Suzanne Collins is writing a new “untitled” (as of now) Panem novel that is set 64 years before the beginning of the Hunger Games books.
Look, I am usually not a fan of prequels, (I’m looking at you, Star Wars) but I’d read anything set in this Universe, at any time.
The release date is scheduled for May 19, 2020. It’s supposed to be set right after the failed rebellion in Panem.
When the Hunger Games first came about.
In a statement, Collins said. “”With this book, I wanted to explore the state of nature, who we are, and what we perceive is required for our survival,” she said. “The reconstruction period 10 years after the war, commonly referred to as the Dark Days — as the country of Panem struggles back to its feet — provides fertile ground for characters to grapple with these questions and thereby define their views of humanity.”
These books won’t include Katniss, Peeta and Gale, obviously, but we don’t know if it will include any other characters that we know from the series.
(I’d love to see a young Snow!)
They are already in talks for a prequel movie. The chairman of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, Joe Drake, said, “As the proud home of the ‘Hunger Games’ movies, we can hardly wait for Suzanne’s next book to be published. We’ve been communicating with her during the writing process and we look forward to continuing to work closely with her on the movie.”
I can’t WAIT to read this one.
I VOLUNTEER AS TRIBUTE!
