I have seen so many of my friends recommending and raving about the book Where the Crawdads Sing. I read a lot and this one is on my list because it was repeated time after time as the book to read!

Well, Reese Witherspoon is going to make it into a movie and that is so EXCITING!!

This isn’t the first time that Reese Witherspoon has taken a book to film! She also did the same with Big Little Lies on HBO, and Little Fires Everywhere on Hulu.

Where the Crawdads Sing” will be adapted from the novel of the same title that was written by Delia Owens in 2018. Reese has her own book club and this was one of the books she highlighted in her book club in September 2018. She was such a huge fan of this book that it didn’t take long for her to decide to adapt it to a film.

There is so much to her story: romance, mystery, and a murder… and it takes place in the breathtaking backdrop of the South. I didn’t want this story to end!

I haven’t read the book myself yet, have you? If you haven’t, this is the rundown I have on the story and what I know so far about the movie:

The story follows two timelines. One is about a Kya Clark, “Marsh Girl”, she is sort of an outcast and growing up in the swamp after being abandoned by her family. The second timeline follows a murder mystery. Sounds like something I can get in to!

The movie will be directed by Olivia Newman (First Match – Netflix) and the script will be written by Lucy Alibar. Lucy also wrote the scripts for Beasts of the Southern Wild, and Troop Zero. Then, of course, Reese will be producing along with Lauren Neustadter (Pretty Little Fires, The Morning Show). This will be produced under Reese’s production company wonderfully named Hello Sunshine.

I need to hurry up and read “Where the Crawdads Sing“, that way I’ll be ready for the movie when it comes out. As of right now, there are no dates available for the movie timeline.
