Fans everywhere are wishing Justin Bieber a quick recovery.
Earlier today, Justin Bieber posted a video on Instagram sharing with his fans that he is currently battling a virus that causes parts of his face to be paralyzed.
Honestly, this would scare the heck out of me!!
In the video, he begins explaining what is happening by saying:
“Hey everyone, um, Justin here, I wanted to update you guys on what’s been going on. Um obviously, as you can probably see, from my face, I have uh this syndrome called “ramsay hunt syndrome” and it’s from this virus that um that attacks the nerve in my ear and my facial nerves.”
What is Ramsay Hunt Syndrome?
Ramsay Hunt Syndrome is a rare neurological disorder that causes paralysis of the facial nerve and can sometimes cause a rash affecting the ear or mouth.
It is typically caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox (source).
In the video, you see Justin blink several times only the right side of his face doesn’t blind or really move.
The right side is where he is experiencing facial paralysis. On that side he cannot blind or even smile.
He goes onto apologize to his fans for having to miss his recent shows and says this entire virus is “pretty serious”.
He says he has been doing facial exercises and that eventually things will go back to normal but he doesn’t know how long that’ll take and will be taking time off until then.
This is quite scary and serious. We are sending well wishes to Justin for a quick and easy recovery!
