Facebook Is Hosting A Virtual Graduation Celebration For The Class Of 2020 With Oprah, Miley Cyrus and More!
Listen up class of 2020 — Facebook is hosting a graduation ceremony — JUST FOR YOU — on Facebook Watch and on the Official Facebook Page of the Facebook app.
This star studded graduation will celebrate all the graduates who will be missing their graduation ceremonies this year — both high school AND college.
You can catch this graduation celebration May 15th at 2pm ET / 11am PT.
A group of celebrities headlined by Oprah Winfrey will deliver the commencement speech during the graduation ceremony and it is set to include the name of every high school and college in the U.S.
Amazing, right?!
They are calling this a “multi-hour commencement celebration event.”
In addition to the commencement speech by Oprah, we will also get appearances by Jennifer Garner, Awkwafina, Lil Nas X, Simone Biles, and a slew of other celebrities.
One of the highlights of the event will be Miley Cyrus singing her hit song, “The Climb.” Totally fitting, right?!?
Facebook plans to roll out several different tools during the ceremony, geared toward seniors, who have missed out on their pinnacle senior moments.
Have you heard of Messenger Rooms on facebook? It is a new feature — kind of like Zoom — on Facebook, where up to 50 users can meet up for a chat, and there’s NO time limit.
Facebook is encouraging seniors to plan watch parties for the graduation celebration, where they can meet up on Messenger Rooms, watch, chat, and celebrate together.
As students head toward graduation, it’s not the day they might have imagined — no processions, no diploma handoffs, no parties. They are commencing at a time of great uncertainty. But graduating is a tremendous achievement, and worth pausing to celebrate even in these circumstances.
Marne Levine, vice president of Facebook’s global partnerships, business and corporate development.
And celebrate, they will! FIRST, you can catch John Krasinski’s graduation ceremony THIS week on his Some Good News YouTube channel, and then make sure and tune in to the Facebook graduation celebration on May 15th at 2pm ET / 11am PT.
