Back in March of 2018 Chase closed all credit card accounts of those living in Canada and at the time, customers were told to still pay on those debts.

But now, Chase has announced they are freeing the customers from the debt and are forgiving all credit card debt for Canadian customers!

“Chase made the decision to exit the Canadian credit card market. As part of that exit, all credit card accounts were closed on or before March 2018. A further business decision has been made to forgive all outstanding balances in order to complete the exit.”

Maria Martinez, vice president of communications for Chase Card Services, said in a statement.

And Canadian customers are over the moon of the news and honestly, how couldn’t they be?

I find it interesting that Chase decided to leave the Canadian market. Is that because Canadians use less debt than Americans? Strange thought, right?

If you live in Canada, you should have received a letter from Chase this past week with the news. Watch for your balance to head down to zero and just think of all the savings you’ll have!
