This Island Has Red Water and Galaxy Sand and It’s The Coolest Thing I’ve Ever Seen
Have you ever come across a video and photos of a place that made you just want to be there right at that moment? That happened to me last night when I came across a video of Hormuz Island.
I had to go look it up and learn more about this amazing place of beauty! Hormuz Island is sometimes spelled Hormoz.
It’s an Iranian island in the Persian Gulf. It’s also sometimes referred to as Rainbow Island.
The reason for the red color you see is from a high concentration of iron oxide. Where the sand has a higher concentration of the iron oxide, it can make the waves look pinkish red.
Now, the dark looking sand that rests beneath the water is where it gets super interesting. In the video below you can see how it looks like a galaxy when they drag through the sand. It’s absolutely amazing looking!
Isn’t that so cool? Have you ever seen anything like this before? If you want to visit, the best time to go is between November and April. During this time period it’s still warm there, but not too hot.
If you are headed over to Iran anytime soon, maybe add this to your itinerary! I don’t plan on traveling anywhere for a long time, but I do enjoy seeing the gorgeous photos of this place.
So what do you think? Have you ever been here before? If not, would you go? If you do go will you bring me back a jar of this sand? I’m mesmerized!
