Medical bills. Ugh. We’ve all got them (or have had them at some point) and for some, medical debt is “normal” but did you know that you might be overpaying for those medical visits?

Medical bill from the hospital, concept of rising medical cost, selective focus. All data on the bill and form design are fictional, created specially for this concept.

I always had a hunch I was overpaying for my care so when I saw this viral TikTok video about a woman sharing how she has her medical bills lowered, I knew I had to give it a try and also share it.

The basic idea is, you go into the Emergency Room for emergency care, get feeling better and then a few weeks later you are slapped with a bill that is over $1,000.

YIKES!

The issue is, you never really know why you are paying so much, you just pay it.

Well, that is WRONG and there is a better way to ensure you are ONLY paying for the care you received and a fair price for it too.

This lady explains that all you have to do is call your insurance company or hospital billing department and ask for “an itemized bill showing every single charge”.

Once you do that, all of those random and insane charges fall off and your bill is magically lowered.

Honestly, I don’t know how hospitals can get away with this sort of thing and it’s quite sleazy if you ask me.

But, this hack works and you end up paying only for the care you receive, lower your bill or often end up with no bill at all (like some people have posted about on Twitter).

Good luck and let me know if this ends up working for you. I am going to give it a shot today. It may not work but it never hurts to try!
