Lord & Taylor Is Closing All Of Their Stores And Are Having A Huge Online Sale
In case you didn’t know, Lord & Taylor was the first department store established in the U.S. and after nearly 200 years (194 years to be exact) they are closing all of their stores!
Lord & Taylor filed for bankruptcy on August 2 with an original plan to close just 19 stores but then increased that number to 24 a few weeks later.
And now, every store will close for good.
They made the announcement yesterday that all of its 38 remaining stores and website have begun liquidation sales.
“While we are still entertaining various opportunities, we believe it is prudent to simultaneously put the remainder of the stores into liquidation to maximize value of inventory for the estate while pursuing options for the company’s brands,”
Ed Kremer, Lord & Taylor’s chief restructuring officer said in a statement.
The Lord & Taylor website has already started their huge liquidation sale. They are offering 20%-40% off the lowest ticketed price so now may be the time to get some holiday shopping done.
Keep in mind all sales are final.
It’s always sad to see another retailer go out of business. Thank you for paving the way for businesses in the U.S. Lord & Taylor, we will miss you!
