Today is September 15th which means that if you are eligible, and you’re a parent, you may be waiting on your 3rd child tax credit payment.

Figures of family and money. Child tax credit concept.

Payments were to be sent on the 15th of every month from July – December 2021. September being the 3rd month for those payments.

However, parents are concerned as many have reported they have not received the tax credit payment today.

While the payments have been sent today, many have received them for the last 2 months early or right on the day so it has people concerned as to why they are missing their payment for this month.

Earlier today, President Biden made the announcement that the payments have been sent so to keep a look out:

So, what do you do if you’re missing your September Child Tax Credit?

First off, don’t panic.

If you’ve received a child tax credit payment in July and August, and you have not opted out, you will receive your September payment as well. This will be the same amount as the others.

While payments should be sent by the 15th, it all depends on when your bank receives the payment and deposits it.

The other thing to note is that some people are receiving their payments via different methods every month.

The reason is unknown but many reported getting their July payment via direct deposit, August payment via mail and now are waiting their September payment.

So, if you don’t see a pending deposit in the next day or two, you might want to watch your mail.

You can actually sign-up for a Free Account with USPS that will show you what you’ll be getting in the mail that day. The email goes out first thing in the morning. You will then see the day your child tax credit check will be delivered.

You can also check the status of your child tax credit payment on the IRS website.

Simply go onto the IRS website here and click “Manage Advance Payments” then login (if you don’t have an account, create one).

Then, view the 2021 account transcript.

Look for the line that says “code 846 refund issued” and you will see the date of 7/8/21 to the right of it. The amount sent will be next to that.

That will tell you if your payment has been sent yet. If you don’t see this, it’s likely your payment has not been sent yet.

  1. What about the people who received July and august payments no problem and nothing has changed yet our online portal says eligibility is now pending and we will not receive payment until they determine eligibility. Makes zero sense.

    1. @Brandi, I am in the same boat. Zero sense. Still no deposit.

    2. @Allison, did you ever receive yours? I didn’t receive September or October. How are you once eligible and then they change it to pending. It’s the same status for 2 months now. I call to speak to someone at the IRS after the 100th call& being on hold for over an hour I get someone that tells me “general information& faqs” if we don’t get anymore payments in 2021 we can file it on our taxes in 2022. Umm so that defeats the purpose of we need money to take care of ours kids NOW. I’m so overwhelmingly irritated.
