We all know that person, or have seen that person at the grocery store — the one who doesn’t return the shopping cart.

I mean, we all know how it is supposed to work. You grab a cart when you first walk in the store, use it to gather all your purchases, and then push it to your car at the end of your shopping adventure.

BUT, what do you do with your cart when you have unloaded it at your car? Do you return the basket to the cart holder, or do you park it next to your car and take off?

Turns out, what you do with your cart may be the BEST test of showing how good a person you are, and whether you are capable of self-governing your actions.

Warning: There is some harsh language in some of the tweets that are to follow. Proceed with caution.

A Twitter user by the name of @antichristjared posted a Tweet that shows that the Shopping Cart Theory is the “Ultimate litmus test” for showing how good a person’s character is.

The theory is basically that you are under no physical obligation to return your cart, but you know it’s the right thing to do. It is more of a moral dilemma.

Do you do what you KNOW is right, and go out of your way to return the cart — OR — do you go about your day, and leave the cart in the space by your car?

It’s no surprise that many Twitter users agree with @antichristjared. They jumped at the chance of voicing their opinions on the matter.

There are, however, those that are Team “leave the cart where it is.” Here is what they have to say.

So, how do YOU feel about the Shopping Cart Theory Test? Are you on the side of putting your shopping cart up when you are done? Or, do you leave the cart where it is?

Did you know that Target has designed their store so that you will take your shopping cart down certain aisles, and I’m okay with that. Ha!
