With meat shortages happening across the nation, Wendy’s has had to pull burgers off of its menu in some locations.

I was hoping it was just some internet rumor, but sadly it is true.

So far, some of the locations are located in California, Kentucky, and South Carolina.

Apparently the coronavirus effects have messed up the meat supply chain across the USA. About 5,000 meat & poultry plant workers have contracted coronavirus in 115 plants across 19 different states.

Some of our menu items may be in short supply from time to time at some restaurants in this current environment. We expect this to be temporary, and we’re working diligently to minimize the impact to our customers and restaurants.

Wendy’s said in a statement to Restaurant Business

The illnesses have caused some of the meat processing plants to temporarily shut down. This has affected 10% of beef production and 25% of pork production.

Wendy’s offers fresh burgers, so this puts them in more of a bind than other fast-food restaurants that used imported (ew) frozen beef from overseas. Needless to say, this has also driven prices way up!

I sincerely hope this doesn’t last too much longer! Let’s hope we don’t end up with a Frosty shortage! Yikes!
