Here’s Why Elton John Says He Recorded A New Song with Britney Spears
Today is the day – the day the new song by Elton John and Britney Spears is released to the world!
The song was just released today and if you haven’t listened to it yet, it is FIRE. Literal FIRE.
The song has already reached the #1 spot on music charts in 38 countries and I’d be lying if I said, I didn’t have it on repeat all day!!
This song is the first song Britney Spears has released in 6 years and when you put her in a recording studio with Elton John, magic happens.
Now you may be wondering why Elton John recorded with Britney Spears in the first place.
After all, the song is a play on his 1971 Tiny Dancer song.
Obviously, Elton John is no stranger to song mashups. He even recently did Cold Heart with Dua Lipa which was a hit as well.
But this collaboration seemed to be a very special one considering everything Britney went through during her 13-year conservatorship.
According to The Guardian, during an interview, Elton John explained his reasoning for recording with her…
“I’m so excited to be able to do it with her because if it is a big hit, and I think it may be, it will give her so much more confidence than she’s got already and she will realise that people actually love her and care for her and want her to be happy. That’s all anybody in their right mind would want after she went through such a traumatic time.”

He continued:
“It’s hard when you’re young. Britney was broken. I was broken when I got sober. I was in a terrible place. I’ve been through that broken feeling and it’s horrible. And luckily enough, I’ve been sober for 32 years and it’s the happiest I’ve ever been. Now I’ve got the experience to be able to advise people and help them because I don’t want to see any artists in a dark place. A lot of artists, you’d think they’d have a lot of self-esteem but they don’t, and that’s why we go onstage and we get the applause, and then we come offstage and we’re back to square one.”

And he finished with saying the sweetest thing ever…
“Rehabilitation is such a wonderful thing for anybody,” says John. “And I’m just crossing my fingers that this will restore her confidence in herself to get back into the studio, make more records, and realise that she is bloody good.”

He said so many amazing and sweet things about Britney and hopes this collab helps her gain her confidence back and get out there and make music once again.
Seriously, I am so happy this happened. Britney and Elton John – it is incredible and so what we all needed right now. Especially Britney.
