Ugh this is exactly what I’ve been fearing as we near closer to schools reopening…

The Academy of Pediatrics (APA) Says 97,000 Children Have Tested Positive For COVID-19 in 2 weeks and that is concerning.

According to a report published by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Children’s Hospital Association, a 40% increase in child coronavirus cases in the states we found during the last two weeks.

Along with the positive cases, at least 86 children have died as a result of the disease since May, according to the new report.

The report states that from 7/16/20 – 7/30/20 a total of 97,078 new child cases were reported.

Could this be a result of some schools, daycare and other child facilities are starting to reopen? I certainly think so.

There have been many reports of schools reopening and having to close again due to increase of cases and students testing positive for the Coronavirus.

I am just not sure how anyone can possibly think heading back to school right now is the answer.

I get kids need an education but it doesn’t need to be right now. Not while we continue to see an increase in positive cases.

As schools being to open, I fear we will begin seeing more and more positive cases along with deaths. Deaths in children and the family members and friends they infect.

Personally, I think we should just call off this school year and start back next year when we have a better handle on things but ya know, I am not an expert.

In case you’re wondering, the AAP did warn against opening schools for this reason among others. Which you can read about here.

You can read the full report on the new increase of child cases here.

So, what do you think? Is this cause of concern?
