Food was such a big part of my family life growing up, and there are some recipes that have been handed through my family for nearly a century now. This recipe for Chocolate Hazelnut Cookies isn’t one of the super old ones (as far as I know), but it is one I remember my great grandmother making when I was just a little girl. Sharing it with you all is like sharing a piece of my childhood, a piece of my family, really. I hope you love it as much as we have. Enjoy!

How To Make Chocolate Hazelnut Cookies:

Preheat oven to 350°, and either spray or butter a cookie sheet.

In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, oats, cocoa, baking powder, and salt. Add egg whites, corn syrup, and vanilla. Stir just until dry ingredients are moistened. Add the hazelnuts and give one last stir or two to evenly distribute (try not to overstir).

Drop by teaspoon onto cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes (or until set). Cool for 5 minutes on cookie sheet before cooling the remainder of the way on a wire rack. Makes about 2 dozen cookies.

Pro Tip: These Chocolate Hazelnut Cookies can be stored in an air-tight container in the freezer for up to six months after you make them. Even better, they taste amazing right out of the freezer so you’ll love them semi-frozen. Enjoy!
