Coke Releases New Bottle Design That Doesn’t Allow The Cap to Come off
Coke has released a simple yet innovative design to try to help reduce waste.

Coke has apparently created a new bottle cap for their soda bottles that doesn’t come off.

The reason? To reduce waste and help further encourage recycling.

Coke realizes that people often remove the bottle cap and it ends up on the ground or in the garbage can.
To help reduce waste and encourage recycling, they built a new cap design where the neck of the bottle actually holds onto the cap. As in, the cap doesn’t fully come off, it just gets moved to the side.

As of right now, this new bottle cap design has only rolled out in the UK.
Plastic bottles of Coke, Coke Zero Sugar, Diet Coke, Fanta, Sprite, Dr Pepper should all have attached caps by early 2024, the company said. The transition only applies to UK bottles at this time.

“This is a small change that we hope will have a big impact, ensuring that when consumers recycle our bottles, no cap gets left behind,” said Jon Woods, general manager at Coca-Cola Great Britain, in a statement Tuesday.

Honestly, I think it’s a great idea. However, if we really want to make an impact, we need to fully move away from plastic altogether.
Also, I really wish they’d bring something like this to the U.S. because right now, every little bit helps to reduce waste and recycle!
