Drive-In Concerts Are A Thing Now and I’m Not Sure How I Feel About It
I’m all about a drive-in movie, but the idea of drive-in concerts just doesn’t sit the same with me.
I know some people probably think it is a brilliant idea, and I can see some reasons why. However, a concert is a more interactive type of event.
Currently, drive-in concerts are happening in Denmark and other countries. I’m sure it will make it’s way over here to the USA soon as well.
With all of the concerts being canceled because of the coronavirus, musicians are unable to tour.
So, I do get it. I just don’t think I would appreciate the concert the same way sitting in a car as I would if I was able to wander around and visit with friends and interact with the band. A true part of a concert experience.
Mads Langer, a singer-songwriter, just had a sold out drive-in concert. This was open to 500 tickets and happened within 6 days of the announcement. That is pretty impressive.
So how it works is you basically drive up and park in your designated spot, then you tune your radio to an FM radio transmission of the concert.
Eh, it just isn’t the same. I mean I guess it would keep me from getting whipped in the face by sweaty hair or getting beer spilled on me, two of my biggest pet peeves.
So what do you think? Would you be into going to a drive-in concert? Or would you rather wait for the real thing? I would love to know your thoughts.
