Father Of The Bride Is Getting A ‘Part 3 (Ish)’ and I’m So There
OMG!! One of my FAVORITE movies of all times — Father of the Bride — is getting a sequel — Well, sort of!
Leave it to Netflix!! On Tuesday, they Tweeted that “Something is coming!” They included a short video of a George Bank’s computer screen, and he’s checking emails, one of which is from Annie, and she has sent a bunch of photos from her wedding.
Then, George opens up an email that is an invitation to a family video call on September 25th! *Squee!!*
Then, one day later, Netflix announced, via Twitter, that there will be a “Father of the Bride 3-ish.” It’s going to be written AND directed by one of the original writers on the Father of the Bride films, Nancy Meyers, and I’m over here doing my happy dance!
The cast is doing a reunion special courtesy of Netflix, Youtube, and Facebook, on September 25th, at 3pm PT/6pm ET. It is to benefit World Central Kitchen, which is providing meal relief due to COVID-19.
We are going to get to catch up with the Banks’ family — 25 years after Father of the Bride 2 occured. You’ll remember that in that film, both Annie and Nina (the Mother) were pregnant and about to have babies at the same time. Those babies would now be 25!! I wonder if we will get to see them??
The event is shaping up to resemble recent Zoom cast reunions and table reads that have been held during quarantine, including for The Princess Bride, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, and X-Men, although this would be Netflix’s first time officially hosting one.
