How to Make the Perfect Frozen Margarita
I love a great frozen margarita, but frankly, I hate paying $7-$10.
No matter how perfect a frozen margarita I can get at my local Mexican joint.
So, making the perfect frozen margarita at home has been something I’ve always wanted to figure out how to do…
But I’ve never been brave enough to try until now.
I don’t know what made me do it, but now, I feel like a bit of a genius, because I can make me a perfect frozen margarita in about 3 minutes flat.
And when I say perfect, I mean PERFECT.
Frothy, smooth, and fun…it’s everything a margarita should be.
The secret is in the ingredients.
I stick with my favorite tequila and don’t deviate.
No reason to mess with something that works for you, right?!
Then I have to start with fresh lime juice.
Now, I know that’s a lot to ask, but microwave those bad boys and waaaaay more juice will come out.
And the result is SOOOO worth it.
I mean, you cannot replace the taste of fresh lime in a frozen margarita.
Once you have your limes all juiced, just a dash of triple sec…
And a shot of tequila.
I might enjoy a stout margarita a time or two–but for the perfect frozen margarita, start with one shot.
Work your way up.
Then it’s time to blend.
Now, at first, I thought my little immersion blender was not going to cut it.
But, dude, with a little perseverance, that creamy smooth texture you love in a perfect frozen margarita was absolutely achieved.
I mean, this was so smooth, I think I could make snow cones with this immersion blender.
Now, I rim my glasses with lime, then salt.
That way I get a little extra lime.
But you can do sugar, too–you choose.
If you’re going to use salt, though, you have to use a coarse salt.
Regular table salt will not cut it.

- 1 shot Tequila
- 1/2 shot Triple Sec
- 4-6 fresh limes
- 2 cups ice
- Salt for rimming
- Juice limes over ice. If they're not super juicy, you can microwave them for 15 seconds to make them more juicy.
- Add triple sec and tequila.
- Rim glass with lime.
- Dip rim of glass in salt.
- Pour blended mixture into glass.
