Masks Are Starting To Sell Out Once Again So You May Want To Stock Up
Here we go again. It looks like we are about to fall back into store shortages of essentials, so make sure you’re ready.
Unfortunately, with the Delta variant of Covid-19 on the rise, we are being warned to mask up yet again.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated the mask guidance in July to recommend that people (vaccinated or not) start wearing masks again. And as of Thursday, over 90% of the U.S. are experiencing high or substantial transmissions.
Mask sales increased 24% the week after that statement was released and 51% the following week. It is safe to say, we may start seeing mask shortages in stores again.
With school starting up again and many stores putting their mandate back up on wearing masks in store, the demands are high again for any sort of face covering in-store or online.
Dr. Robert Lahita, director of the Institute for Autoimmune and Rheumatic Disease at St. Joseph’s Health in Paterson, New Jersey, told USA TODAY that more people are wearing masks due to fear of the highly transmissible delta variant.
“The average person needs a box of disposable ones if they can get them, but if not, then cloth can be used,” he said. “It’s important that we have supplies available for everyone as we enter the fall and winter months.”
