It is executive produced by Kenny Ortega. If his name sounds vaguely familiar, it is because he directed High School Musical and Descendents for the Disney Channel.

Yeah, he’s a pretty big deal. He is just about the king when it comes to Disney Channel teen musicals.

He has now moved to Netflix to help executive produce this show about Julie. She is a teen who used to love love love music.

BUT, her mom died, and since then, Julie has kind of lost her musical muse.

One day, Julie is cleaning out her mother’s old studio, and accidentally releases the ghostly spirits of 3 boy band members.

Of course this kind of freaks her out — as it should — but she soon learns that they are musical.

Julie and these musical ghosts decide to start a band, and they find out something pretty amazing.

When they are onstage playing, singing, and making music, to world is able to see the boys. But, as soon as they stop playing, they disappear again, and Julie is the only one who can see them.

Now, of course, in Disney Channel teen show spirit, there is a mean girl, who tries to cause trouble for Julie — and remember, Netflix seems to be borrowing the Disney Channel teen romance story formula.

This formula for the perfect teen show WORKS, because I can’t stop watching.

It is also fun for my 13-year-old daughter, who — although she won’t admit it — is totally crushing on the hunky spirits.

Julie and the Phantoms has plenty of singing, plenty of dancing, plenty of fun teen drama, and plenty of storyline that will draw you right in.
