Queen Elizabeth II Donates To Ukraine Even Though it Breaks Royal Tradition
After all these years, Queen Elizabeth II may have broken a royal tradition to help aid those in Ukraine.
In case you didn’t know, when it comes to political matters, The Queen is bound to strict neutrality and she rarely comments on the subject.
But this week was a major step away from that as members of the royal family posted about the Russian Invasion in Ukraine in support of Ukrainians.
Prince William and Kate Middleton made a statement tweeting from the Kensington Royal account:
“In October 2020 we had the privilege to meet President Zelenskyy and the First Lady to learn of their hope and optimism for Ukraine’s future. Today we stand with the President and all of Ukraine’s people as they bravely fight for that future.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a similar statement saying:
“Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and all of us at Archewell stand with the people of Ukraine against this breach of international and humanitarian law and encourage the global community and its leaders to do the same.”
And now, Queen Elizabeth II has made a monetary donation to U.K. charity Disasters Emergency Committee’s Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.
The charity works to aid Ukrainian refugees.
Her donation shows her support for Ukraine without even having to say it and that is something so powerful.
Many have expressed support, love and gratitude to the Queen and Palace for their donation.
Many thanks to Her Majesty The Queen for continuing to support the Disasters Emergency Committee and for making a generous donation to the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. @RoyalFamily#UkraineAppeal
Honestly, good for her. I am so glad she did it!
