Regis Philbin Has Died At 88 Years Old

Regis Philbin has passed away at the age of 88. This is such sad news. I loved him so much!

His family made the announcement that he died of natural causes on the evening of July 24th.

We are deeply saddened to share that our beloved Regis Philbin passed away last night of natural causes, one month shy of his 89th birthday.

His family said in a statement to People

We all know Regis, most likely, from Live! with Regis and Kathie Lee, which he started in 1988. We used to watch this EVERY morning, as we were getting ready for school!

The show later became Live! with Regis and Kelly in 2001, when Kathie Lee left to pursue other things.

From 1999-2002, Regis hosted the wildly popular Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. It was never the same when he left.

Not to mention, he ushered in the trend of wearing a solid color, metallic tie with a suit. The men wore them at my wedding! And, it was all because of Reg.

Philbin, who was married twice, is survived by daughters J.J. Philbin and Joanna Philbin, whom he shared with his wife of 50 years, Joy Philbin. He was also father to daughter Amy Philbin, whom he shared with his first wife Catherine Faylen. Philbin and Faylen had another child, son Daniel Philbin, who died in 2014
