A Rude Note Was Left For A Mother And Her Disabled Son About Their Parking Job At Disney World And It’s Not Right

I have, what they call, a TAD bit of road rage. I have tried to dial it back a couple notches since I had kids. Teach by example, right?

However, if there’s one thing that still gets under my skin, and causes me to go off, it is when people take up more than one space when they park. My immediate thought is, “How inconsiderate!”

But, I was slapped in the face with a dose of reality when I heard about this mother, Tricia Proefrock, who had taken up more than one parking spot while at Disney World.

See, her son is disabled, and wheelchair bound.

She was just trying to get in the park to show her son a day of fun and normalcy.

They had tried to park in a handicapped spot, but all the handicapped spots were all full.

Not knowing what to do, she enlisted the help of a Disney Cast Member (Disney’s magical word for “employee”).

Here’s the thing. Tricia needed a “Van Accessible” parking spot, because she needed the side room to get her son’s wheelchair out of the car.

A “normal” parking spot would not do, because there simply wasn’t room to maneuver a wheelchair out the side of the car.

When she discussed her predicament with the Disney Cast Member, they told her to park on the line, therefore taking up two “normal” spots, and giving her the side-room that she needed.

Proefrock told Insider that she didn’t enjoy taking up two spaces but followed workers’ instructions because there were no other options.

So, she parked on the white line, then went about her day, showing her son a magical time at Disney World.

When she got back to the car that evening, things took a turn for the unmagical.

Somebody had gone out of their way to leave her a fake “parking violation” on her van’s window for taking up two parking spaces.

She was immediately shocked and embarrassed. Who would do such a thing?

The note read:

This is not a ticket, but if it were within my power, you would receive two. Because of your Bull Headed, inconsiderate, feeble attempt at parking, you have taken enough room for a 20 mule team, 2 elephants, 1 goat, and a safari of pygmies from the African interior.

Not realizing, or having ANY clue that there was a REASON for her parking job, the note continued:

The reason for giving you this is so that in the future you may think of someone else, other than yourself. Besides I don’t like domineering, egotistical or simple-minded drivers and you probably fit into one of these categories.

The end of the note was pretty “tongue-in-cheek,” but it came across as just plain hurtful to Tricia.

I sign off wishing you an early transmission failure (on the expressway at about 4:30pm). Also may the fleas of a thousand camels infest your armpits. — WITH MY COMPLIMENTS

May this be a lesson to everyone (including myself). Pause before you go making snap judgments on people. There may be more to the story than you know.

Let’s spread love and light instead of bullying and hate.
