There is a genius mom out there who organized what is being dubbed a “Scream Event,” and it is just what all of us are needing right about now.

After two years, this pandemic has us all feeling some sort of way — and that way is usually frustrated, exhausted, and just simply sick of it all.

I don’t know about YOU, but this pandemic has been hard all the way around. Not only is there the fear that I’m going to get sick, but the shift in responsibilities has been REAL.

Sure, maybe some of us can work from home, but that brings with it a whole other set of problems — like people thinking that since we are home, we can just pick up and take care of everything. The kids, the housework, the errands — did I mention the kids?

Lest we also remember, those of us “lucky” enough to work from home, ALSO have to — you know — actually work.

Every time it feels like things are smooth sailing I swear something else happens. Delayed school start, shortened day … gray skies, frozen pipes, ghosted by a contractor, covid tests, wondering if we’re doing the right thing all the time….

If only there were an outlet — a HEALTHY outlet — to deal with some of the tension and frustration brought on by 2 years of — well, let’s face it — hell.

Is There A Therapeutic Way To Deal With All The Stress And Frustration?

This is where Jessica Kline steps into the picture (queue a choir of angels singing in the background).

A local resource publisher out of Clifton-Montclair, NJ, she took an idea she had heard about in Boston, and built on it to come up with her own event that would help local moms vent.

Ladies and gents, we are a month shy of our … anniversary of this all and although I’ve screamed alone in my car, in my pillow, at my husband and kids, I think being together in the outdoors with other parents in the community will be therapeutic.

In an effort to combat the frustrations that this pandemic has brought along, Jessica organized and invited people to a Scream Event in a park in Verona, NJ.

What Is A Scream Event?

It is exactly what it sounds like my friends.

It is a time and a place to scream it out — to just let out the frustration and stress that has been building for nearly 2 years.

Strangers — mostly moms — gathered together at this New Jersey park, and simply vented their frustrations.

One mother said, “I feel really guilty, and I don’t know the right thing to do a lot of the time.”
Another said, “I just work, and my daughter – I have no time for me.
“One woman said, “I am grateful for this opportunity, but even though it’s a very unique opportunity, it doesn’t take away from how lonely it can be.”
“Damn, I feel like I work so hard all the time and I’m not getting anywhere,” another laughed.

After each of them voiced their frustrations, it was time to scream!

They counted down — “Three, Two, One …” — and then just screamed. They didn’t hold back, they let their screams fly on the wind of the cold winter day.

They didn’t stop at just one scream — oh no, that wouldn’t be quite satisfying enough!!

There was a round two — and it was just such a moment of release.

CBS News

In the cold, bleak, some would say the worst time of the year, just the act of letting out a scream was the healthy release these moms needed.

Maybe we should all organize such an event in OUR neighborhoods! Just imagine how much better we would all feel if we could just scream it out!
