Shakira May Be Going to Prison for 8 Years. Here’s What We Know.

News is currently circulating that Shakira may be going to prison for 8 years and honestly, I am shocked.

According to reports, prosecutors in Spain said they would ask a court to sentence Shakira to eight years and two months in prison, if she is convicted in her expected trial for alleged tax fraud.

Shakira is currently being charged with failing to pay the Spanish government 14.5 million euros ($15 million in US dollar) in taxes between 2012 and 2014.

Spain’s prosecutors said they would also seek a fine of 24 million euros ($24 million). WOWZA!

Six charges are currently filed against Shakira and this past week Shakira actually rejected a settlement deal offered by prosecutors, opting to go to trial instead.

As of right now, a trial date has yet to be set but her publicists in London made a statement Friday saying Shakira:

“Has always cooperated and abided by the law, demonstrating impeccable conduct as an individual and a taxpayer.”

So, will Shakira actually be going to prison? Well, we don’t know but it is a definite possibility if she’s found guilty.
