Well get ready to UNPACK your bags because you won’t be able to take that tropical vacay you so deperate need to fuel your soul.

It’s official: The Bahamas has banned Americans from visiting right now and honestly, I don’t blame them.

As COVID-19 cases in the U.S. spike, many countries are closing their borders and not allowing Americans to enter the country in fear of further spreading the virus.

I mean, honestly, can you blame them? I sure don’t!

We have yet to slow cases and have yet to figure out that we all just need to stay home, wear our dang masks when we can’t and do whatever we can to slow the spread of the virus.

Until then, places like The Bahamas will continue to put in strict travel rules in order to protect their citizens.

Yesterday The Bahamas Government made the announcement saying that all international commercial flights are banned from entering the Bahamas, effective Wednesday, July 22.

The only exemptions are visitors from the United Kingdom, European Union and Canada who have tested negative.

“Our current situation demands decisive action if we are to avoid being overrun and being defeated by this virus,” Minnis said in his address

Sea vessels carrying commercial passengers will also not be permitted to enter. However, private international flights, charters and yachts from all countries will be allowed.

I am sure this wasn’t an easy decision since much of the The Bahamas’ gross domestic product (GDP) comes from tourism alone with the majority of the 5.5 million tourists who visit The Bahamas each year, being Americans.

Minnis was adamant in saying that the Bahamas needed to focus on “saving lives and limiting spread of the virus.””The better we are at this, the more our economy could open up and people could make a living,” he said.

I applaud him for doing what he thinks is right to protect his people. I’m just sad I can’t pack my bags and run away to paradise now.
