There Is A Venomous West African Banded Cobra Missing In Texas Right Now And I’m Getting A Mongoose
A few days ago I was scrolling my Facebook when I saw a post from one of our local cities talking about a Cobra on the loose.
Yes, a freaking COBRA!
Grand Prairie, Texas has a large and very venomous West African Banned Cobra loose in a neighborhood after it escaped its enclosure.
The snake has been missing since Tuesday evening, and no one knows where it is.
It could still be in the home for all they know, snakes can hide inside of a house very easily, even a large one like this.
We don’t know if the snake is long gone, or if the snake is still in the house, but we have not been able to locate it.
Grand Prairie Police Public Information Officer Mark Beseda told CNN
Grand Prairie isn’t all that far from me and while I know I’m safe from the snake, I am worried about those that may unknowingly cross paths with it.
I like snakes, but this is a non-native venomous snake, this is a dangerous situation for humans and animals in the area.
The Cobra is 6 feet long and can grow up to about 10 feet!
When the owner noticed that the snake was missing, they called 911.
Grand Prairie animal services, a private reptile removal expert, and the owner have all been searching for the snake for days.
If you are in the area and you happen to see the snake, please do not try to capture it!
Keep your distance and call 911 immediately, as of right now there haven’t been any sightings of the Cobra called in.
Area hospitals have been alerted and have initiated a protocol with Parkland hospital to treat this type of snakebite just in case.
The owner does have a permit to own the snake that was granted by the State of Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, although I’m not quite sure why someone would want to own a venomous snake.
I wanted my community to feel safe. And yeah, it’s required. I’m required as a permitted citizen to call my community if somethings, a mishap.
Tre Mat (owner of the Cobra) told KTVT
Eh, 2021…
