Will We Be Getting $2,000 Stimulus Checks? Here’s What We Know

Although many have received their second stimulus checks, the question has remained – will we be getting $2,000 stimulus checks?

Now you might be wondering where this all started and originally it was President Trump and President-Elect Joe Biden that were in agreement about $2,000 stimulus checks.

However, the second Covid relief bill was pass with only $600 stimulus checks for Americans, so will we be getting the rest?

The good news is, according to multiple reports, the chances of that happening, are high. Here’s what we know.

A few weeks ago when the increase for the $2,000 stimulus checks was proposed, it was passed in the house but failed in the Senate.

But now that both Democrats won Georgia’s U.S. Senate runoff elections, cementing Democratic control in both chambers of Congress, there could be another round of stimulus checks on the horizon.

“Their election will put an end to the block in Washington (of) that $2,000 stimulus check. That money would go out the door immediately, to help people who are in real trouble,” President-elect Joe Biden told Georgia voters in the last days of the Senate campaigns. “Think about what it will mean to your lives — putting food on the table, paying rent.”

Now that Democrats have control of the Senate, it can make it easier for them to pass the $2,000 stimulus checks they have pledged to deliver.

So, if this happens, when would it happen?

Well, according to Ed Mills, an analyst with investment bank Raymond James, and Heights Securities analyst Hunter Hammond, CBS News reported, stimulus checks would come in March.

Why March? Because the latest legislation extended unemployment benefits until mid-March. That is why Congress could face pressure to pass additional aid by then.

“We expect growing anticipation that Democrats will pursue additional stimulus, with a $2,000 check (or at least the remaining $1,400) as a leading item,” Mills said, CBS News reported.
