Why Your Dog Is Just Like You

He eventually warmed up to us during our visit and was ultimately the pup we chose to take home. Now that he is a year old we have noticed just how much he acts just like my husband Brandon and I just had to know why.

After some research, it all comes down to science. Did you know that research has shown that people tend to choose pups that share their physical characteristics, in ways both obvious and subtle? We are basically drawn to dogs that remind us of ourselves. So if you are calm and shy, your dog is most likely that way too. Even down to the way you and your dog eat or interact with people, can be the exact same! Some people even look like their pets! Knowing that, it totally made sense because our dog Drogo (full-breed german shepard) is a lot like my husband. From his mannerisms to his personality. For example, he has loved to sleep on his back since he was a puppy (still does) just like my husband. He also loves to be outside. He really loves to play outside but also loves to just sit outside on our deck and enjoy the fresh air from time to time. Again, something my husband loves. He’s a big baby especially when it comes to snuggling. While he may seem tough on the outside, he is a big cuddle baby and could cuddle for hours. Yep, you guessed it – just like my husband! It’s an interesting thought that we pass our traits onto our dogs and they become more like us. After all, we raise them and care for them during their lives so it only makes sense. Our dogs just want to be like us, we lead by example. And when you step back and look at it, it’s kind of cute and you get that “aw” moment just like you did when you first got them.
