This is such sad news, especially right at the holidays.

Andre Braugher has passed away after battling a brief illness.

He is best known for his roles in Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Homicide: Life on the Street.

But, you may also know him from a whole slew of projects — from New Girl, to House, to City of Angels, to Frequency, and many, many more.

Andre has been nominated for an Emmy 11 times, and has 2 wins under his belt.

His 2 wins were both for Outstanding Lead Actor, once in the FX Network production Thief, and once for portraying Pembleton in Homicide.

His acting resume is peppered with so many outstanding roles, and he will definitely be missed.

Andre was 61 at the time of his passing — way too young.

Nothing is yet known about the nature of the illness, but his representative, Jennifer Allen, confirmed the sad news.

Our thoughts go out to his family during this incredibly difficult time.
