Can We Please Talk About That First Dexter: New Blood Episode?

Okay, if you are still reading, you’ve likely watched the episode.

OMG can we talk about it now? Like how great was that episode?

I’ll admit, from the very beginning, I wasn’t so sure about where this new season was going to go.

Season 8 just ended so bad, it left a permanent bad taste in my mouth and I never felt like the way it ended was truly Dexter.

Now, this episode seemed to be a bit different. Did you notice there was no monologue until almost the very end?

Throughout the episode we see Deb talking to Dexter much like Harry used to in the previous seasons. In one of those interactions, it’s revealed that Dexter hasn’t killed in almost 10 years!!

Now, this is key information because… Dexter’s son, Harrison shows up and that explains why he is a teenager now.

Holy crap. There’s so much to unpack in this episode but then…

Then… Dexter comes back after he kills that douche bag pretty and rich boy and all of Dexter is unleashed. Including, that Dexter monologue. Yessssss!

It was so good to see Dexter doing Dexter things. When he put together his make-shift kill room in his shed, it was like unwrapping a good Christmas gift.

But now looking ahead, looks like Dexter might have a mess on his hands because there was a trail of blood in the snow. OOPS. Dexter has gotten sloppy (or perhaps he is just a little rusty).
