Lidl Issues Recall of Chocolate Advent Calendars Due to Salmonella Concerns
Typically we open 25 days worth in any advent calendar during Christmas, however this advent calendar has been cut short.
Lidl has recently issued a voluntary recall on the 8.4 ounce Favorina premium chocolate Advent calendar due to possible salmonella concerns.
The recall comes from a recent announcement from Lidl that was also posted on the U.S. Food and Drug administration.
According to the announcement, the Favorina recalled products will have a barcode number that reads: 4056489516965.
The advent calendars were stocked at Lidl’s from October 12 through December 5 of this year and will have a “BEST IF USED BY” the year of 2023 printed on the box, according to the announcement.
The possible salmonella contamination was found during a routine testing that is performed by Lidl on an ongoing basis according to the recent announcement.
Currently, the retail chain has not received any reports of illness related to the product that has been affected.
“Lidl US takes the health and safety of its customers as its top priority. If customers have purchased this product, they should not consume the product, and immediately return it to their nearest Lidl store for a full refund,” the recall announcement stated.

The company has furthermore said that customers who bought the product can return it even without a receipt and will receive a full refund.
