Elective Surgery Is My Choice and We Have To End The Stigma

Plastic and elective surgery have such a bad stigma, and I, for one, really don’t like it. It’s kind of the same for people with tattoos, fun hair colors, or just like people who like to wear extreme makeup everyday.

You’ll always have those people who just don’t understand it and want to pick it apart making you feel like crap. My opinion is, it’s not your body, so leave your opinion at home. If someone wants to enhance their features, who am I to say they can’t?!

“As human beings we all have insecurities that can affect our confidence and self-image. The ability to do something to feel better about ourselves such as plastic surgery, is something I see as self-love.”

-Dr. Antimarino

Let’s talk about procedures we don’t always think about when it comes to these topics.

  • Laser facials
  • Chemical peels
  • Hair color
  • Tattoos
  • Nail care
  • Makeup
  • Microblading

All of these items listed above…I’ve had, and I’m sure plenty of you reading this have as well. I don’t HAVE to do them, but they make me feel better about myself when I do do them, so I CHOOSE to have them done.

Now let’s move on to things society considers “plastic surgery”.

  • Breast augmentation
  • Lip fillers
  • Cosmetic dentistry
  • Botox

So, I guess here’s my point……cosmetic surgery isn’t a “bad” thing. Is it considered a taboo topic though? Very much so. When realistically I just don’t think it should be.

Don’t let anyone make you feel bad for what you want to do with your body. Something as simple as getting a tattoo or coloring your hair, taking care of your skin, or going through some weight loss.

Get the boobs you want, get a tummy tuck after having 5 kids, give yourself a new nose or take away those dreaded hooded eyes.

DO NOT LET PEOPLE MAKE YOU FEEL BAD FOR THIS! THIS IS YOUR CHOICE, DO WHAT YOU WANT!

Something I do want, and need, to say though….please know that these things do not define you. You are beautiful because you are you. No amount of surgery will change who a person is deep down.

If you are struggling with yourself, and are trying to please everyone else, plastic surgery is NOT the answer.

Do it because YOU want it, not because your husband wants it, not because you think it’ll make you prettier in someone else’s eyes.

DO IT FOR YOU AND ONLY YOU.

You are beautiful no matter what you decide to do to your hair, your skin, your body…..but if you feel it will help with your confidence, GIRL, I WILL STAND BY YOUR SIDE!
