Here’s Why Will Smith Slapped Chris Rock Across The Face at The Oscars

The Oscars this year was pretty wild and let me just say, far from boring.

Everyone is talking about the moment when Chris Rock took the stage and decided to make a joke about Will Smith’s Wife, Jada.

A few minutes after that, Will Smith took the stage himself to smack Chris right across the face and it was a good slap!

While we never condone violence especially physical acts of violence, it’s important to know why Will Smith did what he did.

What did Chris Rock Say about Jada Pinkett Smith?

During the Oscars, Chris Rock took the stage to present the award for documentary feature and made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith being in “G.I. Jane” because of her shaved head.

“Jada, I love ya. G.I. Jane 2, can’t wait to see ya.”

Now, this is where things escalated.

Will Smith then walks on stage and gives Chris Rock a good slap.

He then walks back down to his sit and says

“Keep my wife’s name out of your f-ing mouth!”

Chris then proceeds to present the nominees and says:

“Oh wow, Will Smith just smacked the s— out of me.”

So, why did what Chris said, upset Will so much?

Well, Jada is bald because she has a condition called alopecia which causes a person to lose their hair and there is no cure for it.

Therefore, Chris Rock’s joke about Jada was completely out of line and disrespectful.

But did it constitute violence from Will? I mean, I think he could have just yelled at Chris instead of smacking him…
