Let me set the scene for you:

It’s a chilly morning at a Target in a high end neighborhood. (Not the place I live, but you know–the place I drive to so my kid can get a fancy education.)

The red-shirted cashier turns to the lady in front of me with a fake smile on her face. “Oh, look! You got coupons.” She rolls up the printed receipt and hands it to the gucci clad woman.

“Holla!” Gucci throws her hands up in the air in a quick celebration.

Over coupons.

“Yes ma’am.” The cashier says, “A Dollar off Pedialyte and (something else I didn’t make out.)”

Gucci then does it again. “Holla, Holla! Coupons! Woo!”

Dude, her pants cost more red shirt’s going to make today.

And she “Holla’d” over coupons.

So, naturally… this got me to thinking about the things I get excited over. While one of those things is definitely not coupons. (Not that they’re not awesome, I just don’t think I’ve remembered to use one–ever.)

My family aside (if the daughter smiles in a cute way I get excited, but that’s a mom thing and pretty irrelevant here) the thing I’ve been most exciting about lately is writing.

It’s the thing I’ve wanted to do forever. It’s the job that you never think you’ll have. You know–the one that you daydream about having while you’re busy at work doing whatever else it is youdo to pay the bills.

And, it might just happen for me.
