The Prequel to Game of Thrones Called ‘House of the Dragon’ Is Coming and I’m So Excited
It has been talked about FOREVER, but we are getting more news on the Game Of Thrones Prequel — House Of The Dragon.
Looks like it’s time to get HBO again. If you are like me, you quit HBO after the series finale of Game of Thrones. Well, it’s time to re-up!
House of the Dragon is reportedly going to be based 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones, and will center around House Targaryen.
In case you forget WHICH House is the House of Targaryen — it’s easy to do, there are so many different Houses — it is the House of Daenerys Targaryen, the Khaleesi, herself. You know, the one with the dragons. Dracarys!
We finally get a look into the the original rulers from the Iron Throne — The Targaryens — the former rulers of the Seven Kingdoms.
The show has been ordered straight to series on HBO, and ten episodes have been ordered for the first season.
Miguel Sapochnik — the director of my absolute favorite GOT episodes, Battle of the Bastards — will direct the pilot, and will be a co-showrunner (executive director) with Vince Gerardis, Ryan Condal, and George R.R. Martin, who wrote the GOT book series.
I am SO ready to see more dragons and news from the Seven Kingdoms!
Some people are speculating (wishing) that Emelia Clarke will show up in the new series. PEOPLE — this show happens 300 year before she even shows up on the scene. I mean, the show writer and producers can do anything they want, but that would just be weird.
This show will no doubt bring us new characters to love — and hate — and more importantly, DRAGONS!
There WAS another prequel in the works. It would have showcased the first battle between the White Walkers and the humans, which would have happened thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones. BUT, it was squashed by HBO before it ever had a chance at life.
No word yet on WHEN we will get see House of the Dragon, but we will be anxiously awaiting any and all news.
Until then, make sure you go check out The Witcher on Netflix. It is reminiscent of GOT, and currently the most streamed show in the WORLD.
