How To Make People Think You Care

There are two types of people in this world, the kind that started counting down to Christmas back in August, and the other kind. You know? The kind that are just hoping to get through Christmas without incident so they can start the year shiny and new.how to make people think you care this holiday season

But it doesn’t matter who you are, which side of that spectrum you fall on, all that really matters is that your family, friends, bosses, first cousin’s boyfriend’s sister’s hairdresser, etc., all think that you care. The thing is, you probably DO care. You just don’t have the time to think about it.

And that’s okay, because I had so much fun working with Hallmark and Mom It Forward to come up with some no holds barred cheats this holiday season to help you trick everyone into thinking you care, no matter how you feel.

The Tricks To Make People Think You Care This Holiday Season

  1. Turn off your group text before you send out that giant message to everyone wishing them a happy holiday. Here’s the thing, if you leave group texting on, and you send out that message, then they will KNOW you sent out to 250 other people, and that you didn’t single them out. But– if you turn off your group messaging, then they will think that special Christmas Tree emoji ??? is just for them.
  2. Present your food in an adorable way. Whoa– nobody freak out, I didn’t say you had to cook it or anything. I just said you had to pop that cake out of the box and stick it on a cute cake stand. Something that says “I love you guys enough to give you something adorable to look at.” This works every time.
  3. Give a personalized book. Dude, these are the kind of gift that moms and kids go nutters for. Basically, you pick out the story, and then you get to also pick the name, skin, eye color, hair color and hairstyle of the main character of the story to match the person you are giving the book to! (Oh, and I am giving one away to a lucky reader– all you have to do is visit Hallmark’s online store, check out the personalized books, and comment below before 11/30 with which book you would choose to personalize.) You can also get $5.00 off your personalized book from 11/30–12/15. personalized books from Hallmark
  4. Pick up the phone and make an actual call. I know, I know.  In the day and age of texting, calls are tough to make. What you really want to do is send out a quick message, and get back to playing with your tiny Star Wars dolls or whatever, but sometimes you just need to pick up the phone and make a call. Call your mom, call your grandma, call that friend you’ve been meaning to catch up with. The holidays are the perfect time to do that, everyone is feeling all nostalgic and full of love!
  5. Spend extra time wrapping a present. One of my favorite things in the world to do is bring someone a present that really knocks their socks off. I like to fold the wrapping paper just right, or stuff the bag with a ridiculous amount of tissue paper so it looks extra full. Whatever it takes to make the person I am giving the gift to feel extra special

"The Amazing Adventures of [Joey] the Great!". That would be my youngest Grandson, Joey's pick without question! His imagination is ever at work, whether he escorts you to the elevator in his new factory (the bedroom closet), or walks on all fours with a basket on his back when he's being a turtle (I have pictures ?). Hope I can win this for him?
