Johnny Depp Donates His $1 Million Amber Heard Settlement To Charity, And We Love Him For It
It has been a hot minute since we spent time thinking about the Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard defamation lawsuit, but today there is more Johnny Depp news on the lawsuit front.
And, if I’m honest, I’m giddy.
I was glued to my computer during the entire trial, and was kind of deflated when it was all said and done.
So, Amber Heard made a $1 Million settlement payment to Johnny, but he isn’t keeping the money.
That’s pretty cool of him. He obviously doesn’t really need the money, it was more about just clearing his name.
What is Johnny going to do with the $1 Million?
He is donating it.
Can you even imagine having so much money that you just up and donate $1 Million?!?
He has chosen 5 different charities, and he is donating $200,000 to each lucky non-profit cause.
According to ET Online, the charities range from those that help terminally ill children, to those that help indigenous people find safe housing, and one that helps fund several different charities in Brazil.
The first charity Johnny selected is Make-A-Film. It pairs up actors, writers, directors, and producers with children who are battling terminally ill sicknesses, and makes their film wishes come true.
Johnny is also donating to The Painted Turtle, which is an organization started by Paul Newman. It allows sick children to attend a life-changing free camp, so the kids have experiences beyond their illnesses.
He is also donating to Red Feather. This is a charity that helps Indigenous communities develop and sustain safe housing.
Teitaroa Society, Johnny’s fourth charity of choice, is actually Marlon Brando’s charity. It helps “to ensure island and coastal communities have a future as rich as their past – strengthening their resilience to global change, by restoring their ecosystems, and preserving their cultures.”
The last charity Johnny chose is the Amazonia Fund Alliance. They help finance Brazilian Non-profit organizations such as SPVS, SOS AMAZÔNIA, and ALOK Institute.
I mean, I knew I loved Johnny Depp, but this just shows what an upstanding individual he really is.
