JoJo Siwa Says She Was ‘Swatted’ After Coming Out To Her Fans
I’ll be honest, I didn’t even know what “Swatted” was until now…
So, it’s likely that you’ve that JoJo Siwa has recently come out to her fans.
Well, it turns out, once the media got a whiff of it, they wanted to trick JoJo into leaving her home so they could grab pictures of her. At least that is what JoJo believes happened.
How did this do this? By calling the police.
During an Instagram live (full video below) with her friend and videographer, Nate Javier, JoJo says that paparazzi called the police to show up to her home in order to take pictures of her after she had recently come out.
“Our house got swatted. We were at our house and, all of a sudden, there was a whole bunch of police telling us to come outside the house. And we didn’t know why. we went outside, hands up like you have to. The police were saying that somebody had called and made a claim and then all of a sudden paparazzi came around the corner,” she said. “It’s called swatting where the media will actually call the police so that way you have to come out outside your house.”
So, this is where the term “Swatted” comes into play.
Apparently, it’s a thing where paparazzi call police to get a celebrity to come out of their house so they can get pictures.
Honestly, I can’t believe they do that and it should be illegal (if it isn’t already)!
By doing this, they are calling officers away from real crimes that may be happening. Even JoJo felt the same when she said:
“I feel bad because there was about 50 police outside my house and those police could have had much better time spent somewhere else actually helping somebody instead of dealing with a fake claim from paparazzi. Literally just come ring my doorbell, paparazzi. I’ll wave to you from my window.”
While it isn’t 100% confirmed this is what happened, JoJo believes this is the case.
Aside from it being morally wrong, there have been instances when people have Swatted someone else and it has been deadly so I am glad this didn’t turn that way but it was certainly a scary weekend surprise for JoJo.
